I agree that the heart of the Democratic Party's problems is that they have turned their back on the working classes. But in America populism as you define it is not the answer. The Party actually needs to move more to the right and cut itself off from some of the most "progressive" elements. Ordinary people are put off by some of the agendas being pushed and don't want to hear anymore about it.

I don't think that many of Trump's supporters are going to get what they want but he doesn't care. He's now got four years to enrich himself and a small coterie of supporters while he lines his pockets and stays out of the jail he so richly deserves.
