I always thought that this sort of behavior was simpler in that women are natural exhibitionists and men are natural voyeurs. That does translate into exogamous mating behaviour and female to female competition so that part of it tracks with what you say. But can we get over this 'objectification' nonsense. Nature objectifies human beings, all of them. That's why we have evolved secondary sexual characteristics which both sexes use to attract potential mates.
