I can really empathize with the sentiment you have expressed about how people around us just want to pretend in the face of adversity that everything is rosy. I recently had someone who had professed love for me over and over again for decades say. "Your personal problems have become tiresome". The problems stemmed from financial issues but it is extraordinary how someone who has always appeared warm can suddenly turn cold!
