I regret very much that the situation in the Middle East is intractable. I lived in the region for 27 years, studied Arabic and Islamic History at Oxford University and this conflict has gone on for the last 10,000 years and will go on for the next 10,000 years. It is the worst kind of fight as it is a family squabble. As you may be aware both the Arabs and the Jews claim to be the elect of God, and both claim to descend from the sons of Abraham. The Jews from Jacob and the Arabs from Ishmael. The Jews claim that God asked Abraham to sacrifice Jacob, the Arabs claim that God asked him to sacrifice Ismael.
