I'm glad that you agree with it and having lived in Bahrain for 25 years and having seen the descendants of Assyrians and such ilk in action I'm absolutely convinced that Dugongs were used in this way! Hence the mermaid. Most myths have some element of reality wrapped up inside them somewhere.
