I'm sure that there are many fundamentalist 'Christian' men who would love to implement this type of regime in America. For example, my wife had no legal status in Saudi Arabia. As a foreigner I was issued a residence permit, called an Iqama. It had my picture and details in the front of it and my wife's picture and details on the last page. I was legally responsible for any acts she might commit while in the Kingdom!
