It's not just professional sports that are doing this shit. At the University of Maryland down the road from where I grew up the stadium, Byrd Stadium, named after an ex-Chancellor of the University was renamed after Chevy Chase Bank in 2006 for $20 million, then in 2009 renamed Capital One Field and then in 2022 for $11 million it is now SECU Field after some credit union. Curly Byrd has been consigned to the dustbin of history on the grounds that he was an evil racist and his name was disassociated from the stadium in 2015.

This is not the only college football stadium that has been branded.
