It's not quite the same thing but my wife's mother broke up her family and she didn't see her father for 30 years. I was able to bring them back together and although she was only able to see him a couple of times before he died it was significant and important and helped to heal a major hurt.

I certainly hope that you find out who your father was and have that knowledge.
