My point was clear: that Trump implements foreign policy decisions on the basis of reactive tantrums without considering proximate details. In this case it is the fact that Colombia's major export earnings from the United States are from cocaine and cannot be tariffed so the implementation of tariffs will not reduce the amount of cocaine coming into the United States nor hurt Colombia. I then added some additional satirical material on further ways in which Trump could undermine the good governance of the US through the implementation of this policy.

He does not think through the consequences of his actions and that was the point. The same goes for his threat to take Greenland by force as a further example. Greenland is part of Denmark. Denmark is part of Nato. If the US invades Greenland and Denmark seeks support under Article 5 then theoretically the US under its treaty obligations would have to fight against itself in such an eventuality.
