Robert, the difference between sports in the US and the UK is simple. In the US the point of sports is for two or more teams and/or players to compete and to win. In the UK the point of sports is for the players to justify how much alcohol they are to drink after the game is over depending on how vigorous the sport is. Please see my post on this subject.
