Thanks for this very interesting article on Paine. It's been decades since I read him and Burke. I had forgotten how radical he was.

As to the abhorrent attitudes prevalent in Anglo-Saxon societies have you had a chance to read 'White Trash' by Nancy Isenberg. It's a very interesting and instructive book.
