This is an unbelievable tragedy. Thank you for this post. I'm surprised to hear that much of the Highlands survived. I had two houses that I sold several years ago that burned down. One on Kagawa Street and on Chumash off Las Flores Canyon which are both gone. Although I no longer live there I still found it depressing that such wonderful houses are lost along with the entire neighborhood.

You are correct about the network effect. It will take a decade at least before the town is restored to any semblance of vibrant normalcy.
