When I was 15 I had a Polish girlfriend, the daughter of a Polish diplomat who worked in their embassy in DC. She didn't shave her legs. One day I suggested that she should. As an American we're all pretty much indoctrinated to think that women should shave their legs. She was highly offended by this suggestion and said that only prostitutes shaved their legs. So, very much a different cultural norm.
